It has been a great day in The BBB household today, our five daughters have become businesswomen!
Several months ago they decided to set up a stall for Children in Need, today they are outside selling and its been a roaring success, they re going to close soon, but I think they will raise £50 themselves, which I will double for them.
In their little group there are a couple of natural leaders who have found it hard to work with each other, it I have to say I have been very impressed. They started by asking their friends (and their parents) what sort of things they would buy, then spent a couple of nights planning their product range and setting prices, which they subsequently market tested and changed in response to feedback.
Once I had given them a cost of sales budget, they set about sourcing the best materials they could and then making the stock, mostly knitted items which they have made themselves.
Last week they made and posed leaflets and used their Mum and my social media to advertise, with great success today when you know the average sale price per item is 20p.
They have also made their own signage and drummed up passing trade.
It hasn’t been entirely smooth going of course with several boardroom battles and some tears along the way.
I am immensely proud of them all and will now let them go to work and run my £50M turnover business, as I am sure they can do it better than I can. I can enjoy more Sun Lounger time, yipeeee!
